Varsity Boy's Basketball Coach

Scott Guttery grew up in Southwest Florida. He graduated from Bishop Verot High school in 1997 and went on to play college basketball at Centre College in Danville, KY. Scott graduated from Centre College in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science and a major in Psychology. He moved back to Fort Myers in 2001.

Since returning, he has coached JV basketball at Dunbar (2001-2003) and Bishop Verot (2003-2004). He was the head girl’s coach at Bishop Verot for 1 season (2004-2005). Guttery was then hired to start up the basketball program at Ida Baker High School in Cape Coral, FL. He coached there from 2005-2007.In April of 2007, Guttery was hired as the head boy's basketball coach at Fort Myers High School.

In 4 seasons with the Green Wave, Guttery has lead the Wave to a 94-29 record, winning 4 district titles, 3 LCAC titles, 1 trip to the sweet 16 (2008), a trip to the elite 8 (2011) and a State Championship in 2010. Fort Myers has not lost a district game (regular season or tournament) in Guttery's 4 years at the helm.

In 2009, Guttery received the FACA district 5A coach of the year award. In 2010, after leading the Green Wave to Lee County's first ever state basketball title, Guttery was named SFABC (SW FL Association of Basketball Coaches) and Florida's 4A coach of the year.

Scott has been married to his wife, Becky, for 9 years. They have two boys, Reece (5 years old) & Trae (4 year old). Scott teaches Business and Technology at FMHS.

JV Coach

Jimmy Roberts grew up in Fort Myers, Florida. He played baseball and basketball all four years of high school. He graduated from Fort Myers High School in 1981. He went on to Florida Southern College where he played Baseball for four years and played in four College World Series’.. His team won the World Series in Montgomery, Al. his senior year, 1985. He graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics.

Jimmy has taught at Fort Myers High School for the last 26 years. He has coached many sports including Head coach of Freshman Football for 20 plus years. Jimmy was also Head baseball coach from 2000 – 2006.

Jimmy has been married for 26 years and has two children. Jimmy III is attending FAU and is in the Honors Business program. Kara is married and enjoys a career in nursing in the ICU unit. His wife is also a teacher and currently works at Fort Myers High School.

Jimmy is truly a “Greenie”.

Chad Terrell

Chad Terrell

Freshman Coach

Chad graduated from Fort Myers High School in 1997. He returned to the Green Wave 5 years ago and works as the supervisor of campus security. He has been an assistant football coach with the Green Wave all 5 years.

This is Chad's fourth year coaching basketball for the Green Wave. In his first two seasons, he compiled a record of 50-6.

Chad is married and has 2 children.

Jim Donmoyer

Director of Basketball Operations

After a one-year stint as the head coach at Estero High School, Jim Donmoyer returns to the Green Wave family. He was part of our coaching staff for the 2010 State Championship team.

Coach Donmoyer started his basketball coaching career as the freshmen coach at Tampa Jesuit High School under Coach Gordon Gibbons. As a beginning elementary teacher in Lee County, he also served as freshmen and JV coach under Joe Pizzano at Ft. Myers High School in the mid-70’s. In 1979, Jim helped start YBA in Lee County, a youth league that he stay involved with for 30 years. Having spent 33 years as a teacher, coach, AP, and principal…all in Lee County,  Jim retired in 2008.

Coach Donmoyer is married to Cindy Donmoyer, a kindergarten teacher at Orangewood Elementary School. He has two sons, James(married to Jamie) and Jordan. In addition, Jim and Cindy have a granddaughter, Emily, who is 5 years old.

Dan Royal

Assistant Coach- Strenght & Conditioning - Team Chaplain

Dan, who earned his Bachelor’s in Psychology from Florida State University in 2004, was a standout on the Seminoles track and field squad.

 

Royal received his Master’s in Religion from Liberty University in 2006 and competed on the Flames track & field squad in his final year of collegiate eligibility in 2005.

 

After his collegiate career, he began pursuing a professional track & field contract and competing for the Liberty Elite Track and Field Club where he served as the Chaplain. From 2006-2008, Royal also served on the track coaching staff at the University of Richmond while working for FCA full time in Richmond.

 

He also continued to compete in other sports such as Strong Man and the Scottish Highland Games. In total, Royal has broken more than 75 records, including school, conference, championship, and world championship records, mostly in track and in the Highland Games.

 

Dan's first year with the program was the 2009-2010 season. His work with the team played a big part in our state championship. Dan missed the 2010-2011 season while he competed on the USA National bobsled team. We are excited to have Coach Royal back with us for the 2011-2012 season.

Bobby Ebbert

JV Assistant Coach

Robert Ebbert was born in Fort Myers and grew up in Cape Coral. He graduated from Ida S. Baker High School where he excelled in varsity basketball and football, including a position in the Southwest Florida All Star Football game. Coach Ebbert played on Coach Guttery's varsity basketball team when he was a coach at Ida Baker. After graduation, Ebbert moved to Pensacola, Florida, to attend the Univeristy of West Florida. He graduated in April 2011 with a degree in Health, Leisure, Exercise Science/Physical Education and a minor in Professional Education.


While in college, Ebbert coached the boys basketball team at Escambia Christian School where he helped bring the team to a winning season after five losing ones. Ebbert plans to utilize his degree to pursue a teaching career. He is excited to be a part of the Green Wave tradition and coach with his former high school coach.

Kyle Gilreath

Varsity Assistant Coach

A 2002 graduate of Titusville High School (Titusville, FL), Kyle continued his playing career by attending Emory & Henry College (Emory, VA). After one semester he moved back home where he was a Volunteer Assistant Basketball Coach at his Alma Mater.

 

Shortly thereafter, he enrolled at the University of Florida where he was Manager and Graduate Assistant under Billy Donovan from 2004-2009. He graduated in 2009 with a BS and MS in Sport Management. He currently is the NBA Client Services Manager for FastModel Sports, a sports technology company.

 

Kyle has just moved to Fort Myers from the Orlando area with his wife Jenna who grew up in Fort Myers and is a Green Wave Alum.

Casey Stewart

Varsity Assistant Coach

Casey was born and raised in Fort Myers and attended Fort Myers High School graduating in 2005. He then received his Bachelors in Legal Studies & minor in Business from the University of Central Florida in 2009. In 2010 he married his wife Rachel, who is also a graduated from FMHS.

 

Casey was a part of the Fort Myers High basketball program from 2001-2005. While playing for the Green Wave, the team was ranked in the top 5 in the state for 3 years in a row. They were ranked #1 one year and attended a Final Four in 5A in 2003. Casey played in 2 City of Palms Tournaments, led the area in assists, and was one of the leaders in steals during his senior year. Casey has the 2nd most career assists of any FMHS basketball player.

 

Casey is currently attending Law School at Ave Maria University. This is his first year on the FMHS coaching staff.
